Titanic Weekend with Jolyn Palliata and me starts on Friday…

I hope you’ll join us at Jolyn’s Blog “Lost in the Stacks” for four days of Blogging, Titanic Trivia and Book Giveaways of “Titanic Rhapsody!”

Here’s a glimpse of today’s Titanic Overview:

I first discovered Titanic in the spring of a precocious childhood. A time of May processions and white veils. Blue rosaries. And exuberant confessions.

Oh, the stories I used to tell the priest behind the grill. I’m sure he never believed me, but it set my young heart aflutter to dream about the adventures I made up. When I saw the old black and white film “Titanic” on TV, I was hooked. Elegant ladies, handsome gentlemen, lovely music and a grand ship.

And when I discovered the Irish were a big part of that story (read about my Irish roots here), well, that did it for me. A Titanic enthusiast was born.

Since then I’ve traveled to many places and written several books, but Titanic has been a part of my childhood I couldn’t give up. Like sugar cookies and hot chocolate, there’s a comfort to indulging in that world if only for a little while. To live the glamour, feel the hope for a new life, experience the pain of loss, then realize that surviving is a tough road. The bitter with the sweet. A reminder that life is to be lived to the fullest every moment.

On this 100th anniversary of Titanic, I’m thrilled to be a part of it with my romance novel, TITANIC RHAPSODY. This is the story of Katie O’Reilly, an Irish emigrant who takes the place of the Countess of Marbury when the Titanic sinks, and how a bet made between a dashing gambler and a wealthy industrialist changes her life forever.

I’m excited to co-host this Titanic Rhapsody Weekend with my good friend, Jolyn Palliata, also a Titanic enthusiast. When she found out about my book, she couldn’t wait to join forces with me and put together the best celebration we could for you. Fill you in on everything from what ladies wore aboard ship, to who was traveling under an alias, to what New York tycoon had his French mistress with him. We’ve got a grand weekend planned for you with a fun trivia game and book giveaways.

Please join us for everything you always wanted to know about Titanic. Don’t forget to ask your questions—I’ll do my best to answer them.

Let me set the stage for our event with you. Meet my heroine, Katie O’Reilly:

Imagine you’re a young Irish girl wrong accused of stealing a diamond bracelet belonging to the snooty daughter of an earl. The law is after you, but you have one chance to escape.

The Titanic.

You barely get on board the ship by the skin of your teeth and hide from the ship’s purser when you run straight into the arms of Captain Lord Jack Blackthorn, a handsome gentleman gambler who promises to be your protector.

If you take off your clothes.

What would you do?
